WLC Eclipses The Stars On Friday Night

Box Score

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Juniors Jenna Charron (Appleton, Wis.) and Emily Sarles (Lombard, Ill.) posted double-doubles to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's volleyball team past Dominican in four sets on Friday night inside the Recreation Complex. The win was the Warriors' first over the Stars since 2007.

  • Final Score: Wisconsin Lutheran 3, Dominican 1 (25-23, 25-19, 25-27, 25-17)
  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (9-12, 7-4 NACC), Dominican (7-17, 4-7 NACC)
  • Location: Recreation Complex, Milwaukee, Wis.

  • The opening set featured a match-high 12 ties and four lead changes as both teams held no more than a three-point lead during the first set. Following a Warriors timeout with the score knotted at 22-22, the hosts scored three of the final four points for a 25-23 win.
  • WLC trailed 10-9 in the second set but used a 9-0 run that forced a pair of Stars' timeouts to take control. Wisconsin Lutheran increased its lead to as many as 10 points before winning set two 25-19.
  • The Warriors held an 18-13 third-set lead, but the Stars evened the score at 20-20 and fought off match point twice for a 27-25 win.
  • WLC turned a 5-4 lead into an 11-4 advantage thanks to a 6-0 scoring run in the third set. Dominican would get no closer than five points the rest of the way and Wisconsin Lutheran came away with a 25-17 win.
  • Charron led all players with 17 kills to go along with 10 digs for a double-double. Joining her was Sarles who recorded 39 assists and 13 digs.
  • Senior Carly Heuer (Germantown, Wis.) added 13 kills and junior Rebecca Chavez (Chicago, Ill.) chipped in with 10 kills and six block assists.
  • Junior Ally Goba (Mukwonago, Wis.) contributed 12 digs and three service aces.

  • "The team came out with very high confidence and poise today. It was so great to see them execute and play free and together. I think we let set three slip away from us, as a sweep is always preferred when possible, but it was still a great match from start to finish. A big thanks to our crowd for bringing the energy tonight, too!" - Head Coach Jenilee Voss

  • The Warriors face a quick turnaround when they host Aurora (16-7, 10-1 NACC) at 12 p.m. tomorrow for Homecoming and Alumni Day. Live coverage links will be available for the contest at WLCSports.com.
