Women's Tennis Triumphs Over MSOE, UW-Stout

GLENDALE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Three players posted a perfect 4-0 record on Sunday as the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team collected wins over MSOE and UW-Stout at Elite Sports Club. 

• Final Scores: Wisconsin Lutheran 9, MSOE 0; Wisconsin Lutheran 7, UW-Stout 2
• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (7-6, 5-3 NACC), MSOE (6-5, 5-2 NACC), UW-Stout (2-4)
• Location: Elite Sports Club, Glendale, Wis.

• The Warriors, who picked up their third straight win over the Raiders, opened the match with three doubles wins. Sophomores Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) and Kaytlyn Hartfield (New Holstein, Wis.) were 8-5 winners at No. 1. Sophomore Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) and senior Amanda Wietrzny (Pewaukee, Wis.) and sophomore Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and freshman Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) each shutout their opponents 8-0 at No. 2 and No. 3.
• WLC won five of the six singles matches in straight sets, with Haskell (6-2, 6-0), Hartfield (6-3, 6-0), Hawley (6-0, 6-3), Schmidt (6-1, 6-1), and sophomore Gabrielle Medema (Appleton, Wis.) (6-1, 6-1) winning handily. Smith outlasted her opponent in three sets at No. 1 by a score of 6-3, 0-6, 10-6.
• Wisconsin Lutheran took two of three matches in doubles play against UW-Stout. Haskell and Wietrzny (8-6) and Hawley and Schmidt (8-5) collected wins.
• The Green and White also won five singles matches, as Haskell (6-1, 6-2), Hawley (7-5, 6-1), Schmidt (6-1, 6-2), Medema (7-5, 6-1), and Wietrzny (4-6, 6-1, 10-5) were all victorious.

• The Warriors next play an exhibition match on Wednesday at Carthage. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Smeds Tennis Center.
