Women's Tennis Opens Home Slate Against Carroll

HARTLAND, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team played its first home match of the season Saturday afternoon against Carroll in non-conference action. The Pioneers swept the Warriors by a final result of 9-0. 

  • Final Score: Carroll 9, Wisconsin Lutheran 0
  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (1-5), Carroll (1-0)
  • Location: Wisconsin Athletic Club, Hartland, Wis.

  • The Pioneers opened the contest with three doubles wins over the Warriors, including two by 8-2 finals. Freshmen Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.) and Alex Sturm (Hartland, Wis.) dropped a tight 8-7 decision at No. 3. 
  • Carroll claimed straight set wins at all six singles flights over WLC. Sturm recorded Wisconsin Lutheran's closest match of the day, falling 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.

  • Grace Krueger, Carroll's top singles player, won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 and teamed with Madison Ostrander for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.

  • The Warriors next travel to Bloomington, Illinois, on Friday, March 12 for a non-conference matchup against Illinois College (0-1).
