Men's Soccer Scores Three In Season-Opening Win

VERONA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team defeated Edgewood 3-1 at Reddan Soccer Park to open its 2020-2021 season on Friday. Three different players scored for the Warriors, who played their first game in 506 days.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (1-0-0, 1-0-0 NACC), Edgewood (0-1-0, 0-1-0 NACC)
• Location: Reddan Soccer Park, Verona, Wis.

• Edgewood struck first in the 16th minute of the first half when Zander Hartberg found the net on a pass from Jorge Castellanos.
• The Warriors evened the score later in the first half when freshman Ben Meaux (Franklin, Wis.) scored in the 33rd minute. WLC added one more just before halftime, as freshman Tony Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.) scored with just over one minute until the break.
• In the second half, sophomore Joseph Raasch (Germantown, Wis.) gave Wisconsin Lutheran a 3-1 advantage with an unassisted goal in the 60th minute.
• Freshman goalkeeper Puma Galvan (Racine, Wis.) stopped all five shots he faced in the second half to maintain Wisconsin Lutheran's two-goal lead.

• Junior Jason Cano (Delavan, Wis.) paced the Warriors with five total shots, while Bedolla finished with three shots on frame. WLC recorded 19 total shots with 11 coming on target.
• Galvan allowed one goal while posting seven saves in 90 minutes in goal to earn his first collegiate win.
• Meaux, Bedolla, and Raasch each scored their first career goals in Warriors uniforms.
• The win was the third straight for WLC over the Eagles in the series.

• The Eagles finished with 20 total shots with 10 of them on frame. Hartberg led the team with three shots on goal while scoring EC's lone goal.
• Brendon Martin made eight saves while allowing three goals and was charged with the loss.

• Wisconsin Lutheran travels to Lakeland on Sunday for an afternoon matchup against the Muskies (1-0-0, 1-0-0 NACC) at 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at WLCSports.com.
