Box Score 2 MADISON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Taking on an opponent for the first time in 486 days, the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's volleyball team returned to the court on Sunday afternoon and picked up two NACC road wins over Edgewood to start conference play 2-0 for the third straight season.

- A back-and-forth opening set featured seven ties and three lead changes as neither team held more than a four-point lead until the 23rd point of the set was scored by the Eagles. The Warriors held their largest lead at 15-13, but six unanswered by EC gave the hosts the lead for good as they won 25-21.
- WLC stormed out to an 8-1 lead in the second set, but Edgewood battled all the way back to jump in front 21-18. Wisconsin Lutheran capitalized on six Eagles' mistakes and held on for a 25-23 second set victory.
- The Green and White led 13-11 in the third set before rattling off 10 straight points for a commanding 12-point lead. The Eagles climbed to within five but a service error ended the set and gave the Warriors the win in set three.
- Wisconsin Lutheran saved its best performance for last, hitting .458 in the fourth set on 11 kills and zero errors. WLC erased an early 2-1 deficit quickly and won in convincing fashion 25-9.
- Sophomore Jenna Charron (Appleton, Wis.) led the Warriors with nine kills and four blocks, and sophomore Emily Sarles (Lombard, Ill.) collected 17 assists. Defensively, sophomore Ally Goba (Mukwonago, Wis.) and junior Mercedes Pye (Zion, Ill.) recorded 14 and 11 digs, respectively.
- The Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first set and never trailed the rest of the way despite a pair of ties. WLC led 14-7 and finished off the set by winning 25-13.
- Wisconsin Lutheran fell behind 11-6 in the second set, but scored six straight points to take a lead it would never relinquish. The Green and White on the set 25-21.
- The visitors trailed 14-13 in a tightly-contested third set, but rattled off seven consecutive points to break open the set and hang on for the 25-21 win.
- Junior Abby Raasch (Stillwater, Minn.) led all players with nine kills in the match, and junior Michelle Haling (Antioch, Ill.) totaled 12 assists. Mercedes Pye posted six of WLC's 15 service aces. Goba added 11 digs defensively.
- Abbey Maier paced the Eagles with a match-high 14 kills in the first match. Amanda Carlson added a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs. EC hit identical to WLC at .138 in the opening match.
- Mackenzie Doherty had seven kills for Edgewood in the second match and Sarah Uczen collected 12 digs.
- The Warriors are home next Saturday hosting NACC foe Concordia Wisconsin (2-0, 2-0 NACC) for their home-opening matches. The first match is scheduled to start at Noon. Live stats and video coverage will be available at WLCSports.com.
