Warriors Sweep Lakeland To Open NACC Play

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team swept Lakeland 9-0 in its conference opener at Helfaer Tennis Stadium and Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. It was the Warriors' second straight 9-0 victory.

• The Warriors won all three matches in doubles competition with freshmen Kaytlyn Hartfield (New Holstein, Wis.) and Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) winning 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, freshmen Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) and Izza Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) also won 8-0, while freshmen Gabrielle Medema (Appleton, Wis.) and Alex Sturm (Hartland, Wis.) won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles to improve their record to a perfect 5-0 on the season.
• WLC swept through the singles portion, with Hartfield winning at the No. 1 spot 6-1, 6-1. Medema won at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0 for her team-leading seventh win of the year. Haskell picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles and Smith won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 4 slot. Hawley and freshman Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.) each won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

• Baylee Babcock competed at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Muskies, falling 6-1, 6-1 in singles and 8-0 in doubles with her teammate Sadie Conway.

• The Warriors host Edgewood (2-0, 1-0 NACC) in a conference match on Wednesday at the Princeton Club in New Berlin. The contest is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
