Warriors Close Regular Season With Sweep Over MSOE

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Sophomore Jenna Charron (Appleton, Wis.) posted 20 kills as the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's volleyball team won a pair of non-conference matches over MSOE on Saturday afternoon inside the Recreation Complex. The Warriors swept the Raiders in game one behind scores of 25-13, 25-13, and 25-22 before winning in four sets in the second game of the doubleheader.

  • With the score even at four in the first set, WLC scored four straight points to take an 8-4 lead. Junior Carly Heuer (Germantown, Wis.) and senior Alyssa Charron (Appleton, Wis.) each had a kill to start the run, and junior Dayton Pye (Zion, Ill.) added a service ace. The Warriors went on another 8-1 run to extend the advantage to 10 points and force a MSOE timeout. Wisconsin Lutheran maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the set to win 25-13.
  • After scoring the first three points of the second set, WLC went on a five point run to take an 8-3 lead. The Raiders cut the deficit to one point but Jenna Charron snapped a three-point MSOE run with a kill. The Green and White led by three midway through the set and scored the final nine points to win 25-13 in set two.
  • Both teams were even at 12 points apiece following a block assist from Jenna Charron and senior Jordan Weide (New Berlin, Wis.). The Raiders took a one-point lead, but the Warriors responded with seven unanswered points to take a 24-18 lead. Junior Mercedes Pye (Zion, Ill.) had a pair of kills and Heuer added another on the WLC run. Sophomore Emily Sarles (Lombard, Ill.) finished the set with a kill to cap the Warriors' sweep.
  • Jenna Charron and Alyssa Charron tied for the team lead in kills with seven apiece while Mercedes Pye added six. Alyssa Charron posted a .429 hitting percentage while Pye hit .357. Wisconsin Lutheran finished with 30 kills to go along with a .183 hitting percentage.
  • Sophomore Ally Goba (Mukwonago, Wis.) recorded a match-high 11 digs and Sarles finished with 22 assists. The Warriors totaled 10 block assists along with eight service aces.

  • The Raiders held a four-point lead to open the first set before a 9-2 WLC run gave the hosts a 13-10 advantage. The Green and White extended the lead to six before MSOE cut the deficit down to two late in the set. The Warriors closed the set after scoring four of the final five points to take the first set 25-20.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran raced out to a 12-3 lead to start set two. The Warriors recorded six kills in the opening stretch with two coming from Heuer. WLC continued to extend the lead with an 8-1 run to take a 15-point advantage and Jenna Charron and freshman Bria Wigley (Milwaukee, Wis.) closed the set with a pair of kills.
  • MSOE scored seven consecutive points to take a 7-3 advantage to open the third set before a five-point Warriors run gave the hosts an 18-16 lead. The Raiders claimed the third set and avoided the sweep with a 9-2 spurt to close out a 25-20 win.
  • Three service aces from Heuer and Wigley helped WLC take a 12-3 lead in the fourth set. MSOE got back within five, but a pair of kills from Heuer along with Wigley and freshman Elise Meier (Watertown, Wis.) gave the Warriors a double-digit lead. Two kills from Jenna Charron helped the Warriros take game two with a score of 25-14 in the fourth set.
  • Jenna Charron recorded a team-high 13 kills and 10 digs with a .281 hitting percentage. Heuer added 10 kills as WLC finished with 41 kills to go along with a .175 hitting percentage.
  • Junior Michelle Haling (Antioch, Ill.) posted 29 assists while Meier finished with 20 digs. The Warriors finished with 10 service aces, with Heuer, Wigley, and freshman Maddie Pearson (New Ulm, Minn.) totaling two service aces.

  • Quinn Borchert posted eight kills to lead MSOE in game one. The Raiders finished with 21 kills and a -.061 hitting percentage. Emma Braun led the team with nine digs and Amanda Yackley recorded 18 assists.
  • Anastasia Konsoer finished with a team-high nine kills in game two as MSOE tallied 29 kills and a .017 hitting percentage. Julianna Getka finished with 12 digs and the Raiders recorded eight service aces.
