WLC Drops Match To UW-Stevens Point

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Squaring off for the first time in over seven years, the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 non-conference match to UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday afternoon at McKinley Park Tennis Courts. 

  • Final Score: UW-Stevens Point 8, Wisconsin Lutheran 1
  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (5-11), UW-Stevens Point (7-3)
  • Location: McKinley Park Tennis Courts, Milwaukee, Wis.

  • The Pointers prevailed in all three doubles matches over the Warriors by scores of 8-2, 8-2, and 8-4. The Warriors' No. 3 team of freshmen Gabrielle Medema (Appleton, Wis.) and Christian Choi (Milton, Wis.) came close, but suffered a four-game setback. 
  • Freshman Kaytlyn Hartfield (New Holstein, Wis.) won her seventh singles match of the season at No. 1 for WLC, defeating her opponent in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 10-5.
  • Freshman Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) came up on the short end of another three-set match at No. 5 singles, falling 1-6, 6-4, 10-5. 

  • UWSP's Jenna Koepp won at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-2, while Faith and Chloe Leithold paired up for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.

  • The Warriors play another non-conference match on Thursday when they host North Park (0-7). First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at McKinley Park Tennis Courts in Milwaukee.
