Women's Tennis Blanks Alverno

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team secured its third sweep of the season on Saturday by winning 9-0 over Alverno in a NACC dual match at McKinley Park Tennis Courts. The Warriors, who won for the third time in their last four outings, didn't lose a single game to the Inferno.

• The Warriors had little trouble with the Inferno, as they started the match by winning all three doubles matches. WLC's teams of freshmen Katylyn Hartfield (New Holstein, Wis.) and Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.), freshmen Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) and Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and freshmen Gabrielle Medema (Appleton, Wis.) and Alex Sturm (Hartland, Wis.) all won via the 8-0 score. The latter win by Medema and Sturm was their team-leading 10th of the season in doubles play.
• Wisconsin Lutheran also swept through singles play by perfect straight set scores of 6-0, 6-0. Hartfield, Medema, Haskell, Smith, Hawley, and freshman Christina Choi (Milton, Wis.) all won 6-0, 6-0. The victories by Medema and Smith were their 10th of the season in singles play.
• It was the sixth straight win for the Warriors over Alverno in their series.

• Kalei Hanna suffered a 6-0, 6-0 setback at No. 1 singles for the Inferno, while she and her partner Maisheng Thor lost 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.

• The Warriors wrap-up their busy week with another NACC dual tomorrow on the road at Marian. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m.
