Winning Streak Stopped By Eagles In NACC Semis

MADISON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The fourth-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team saw its five-match winning streak come to an end in the NACC Tournament Semifinal on Friday afternoon at Quann Park. The Warriors fell to the top-seeded Edgewood Eagles 6-0 to conclude their 2020-2021 season.

  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (10-12, 5-3 NACC), Edgewood (10-0, 8-0 NACC)
  • Location: Quann Park, Madison, Wis.

  • The unbeaten Eagles won all three doubles matches from the Warriors. WLC's closest competition came at No. 1 doubles where freshmen Kaytlyn Hartfield (New Holstein, Wis.) and Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) dropped an 8-3 decision. EC took the other two matches by scores 8-1 and 8-2.
  • Edgewood also collected singles wins at No. 1 (6-1, 6-1), No. 2 (6-2, 6-2), and No. 6 (6-2, 6-0). Matches at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles went unfinished.

  • Cecile Fuchs was a 6-1, 6-1 winner for the Eagles at No. 1 singles. She and her No. 1 doubles partner Ally Verbauwhede also won 8-3. 

  • The Warriors conclude their 2020-2021 season with a record of 10-12 overall and 5-3 in the NACC. WLC won its first conference tournament match since the 2012-2013 season.
