Women's Tennis Tipped By North Park In Season Opener

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team battled back from a 3-0 doubles deficit, but fell in a 5-4 defeat to North Park in a non-conference season-opening dual match on Wednesday night at McKinley Park Tennis Courts.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (0-1), North Park (1-0)
• Location: McKinley Park Tennis Courts, Milwaukee, Wis.

• The Vikings opened the match with three doubles wins over the Warriors, including an 8-7 tiebreak win at No. 2 doubles.
• The visitors picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, but WLC collected four victories throughout the remainder of singles play.
• Sophomores Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) and Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and senior Amanda Wietrzny (Pewaukee, Wis.) and freshman Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) were winners at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6, respectively. Wietrzny pulled out a three-set win by a score of 6-0, 3-6, 10-6. 

• The Warriors open their NACC slate on Saturday when they host Concordia Wisconsin (1-0) at 9 a.m. and Alverno (0-0) at 4 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Princeton Club in New Berlin.
