WLC Falls To NACC Perennial Power Eagles

MADISON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team fell to NACC perennial power Edgewood 7-2 on Saturday at Quann Park. Freshman Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) upper her overall singles record to a perfect 6-0 on the season despite the league loss.

  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (2-4, 1-2 NACC), Edgewood (1-4, 1-0 NACC)
  • Location: Quann Park, Madison, Wis.

  • The host Eagles collected wins over the Warriors at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. WLC picked up a win at No. 3 doubles as Schmidt and sophomore Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) teamed up to defeat Edgewood 8-4.
  • EC claimed straight set wins at the first five singles flights, but sophomore Kaytlyn Hartfield (New Holstein, Wis.) battled to a 7-5, 7-5 defeat at No. 3.
  • Schmidt continued her early season success with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles, improving her mark to a perfect 6-0 this season.

  • The Warriors play a non-conference road match on Thursday against UW-Oshkosh (0-2). First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the UWO Tennis Courts.
