Women's Tennis Secures Saturday Sweeps Of Muskies, Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team secured a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference sweeps over Lakeland and Marian on Saturday to leap over .500 in conference play. It was the Warriors' fourth 9-0 win of the season.

• The Warriors rolled through doubles play in their opening match with the Muskies, winning by scores of 8-1, 8-0, and 8-0. Sophomores Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) and Kaytlyn Hartfield (New Holstein, Wis.), sophomore Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) and senior Amanda Wietrzny (Pewaukee, Wis.), and sophomore Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and freshman Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) each tallied wins for WLC.
• Wisconsin Lutheran won all six singles matches in straight sets, including sweeps at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 singles. Haskell, Hartfield, Hawley, and sophomore Gabrielle Medema (Appleton, Wis.) each collected clean sweeps.
• The same three doubles tandems secured 8-2, 8-0, and 8-1 wins over the Sabres in their second contest of the day.
• Singles action also saw six straight-set wins for the Green and White, including a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6 singles for Medema.
• Schmidt upper to mark to a perfect 8-0 on the season in singles play with a pair of victories.
