Jason Cano (Delavan, Wis.) collected his fifth career hat trick to lead Wisconsin Lutheran College to a 5-3 non-conference season finale win over Maranatha Baptist on Saturday at MBU Soccer Field.
The Warriors (10-3-5), who clinched their third 10-win season in program history and first since 2012, finished the year on a six-match unbeaten streak by defeating the Sabercats (4-10-1) for the fourth straight time in the series. It marks the third time in the last four years that WLC ended the season with a victory.
It was MBU which jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute of the match on a goal from Isaac Schmidt assisted by Grant Kirchner.Â
Cano knotted the contest at 1-1 in the 13th minute and then put Wisconsin Lutheran ahead in the 24th minute with the go-ahead score. Freshman
Victor Moreno (Racine, Wis.) netted his third goal of the season in the 33rd minute to give his team a 3-1 halftime lead.
Cano capped a string of four straight goals in the 59th minute with his 17th of the season as the lead grew to 4-1. Maranatha Baptist came within a goal after Aaron Jones and Braeden Hansel tallied goals in the 85th and 87th minutes.Â

Joseph Raasch (Germantown, Wis.) gave the Warriors some breathing room shortly after with his seventh goal of the year assisted by Cano.
WLC owned a 23-7 advantage in the shot column over the Sabercats and an 11-0 count in corner kicks. Cano paced all players with seven shots. Four Wisconsin Lutheran keepers combined for two saves.
