WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College won its fourth straight NACC match on Thursday by a score of 8-1 over Lakeland at Hart Park.
The Warriors (6-5, 5-2 NACC), who won for the ninth straight time in the series against the Muskies, collected their second straight 8-1 win over a conference foe.
WLC picked up two points in doubles play as the No. 1 team of juniors
Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) and
Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) defeated Mary Blossom and Sadie Conway 8-1. Fellow juniors
Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and
Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.) posted an 8-3 victory at No. 2 over Olivia Heling and Kassidee Webb.
Wisconsin Lutheran rolled through singles play, winning five of the six matches in straight sets. Haskell was a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 winner at No. 1 over Heling, Smith survived in three sets at No. 2 over Blossom 2-6, 7-5, 10-6, while Hawley picked up a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 3 over Webb. Sophomore
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) collected a 6-0, 6-1 win over Baylee Babcock at No. 4, Pope prevailed 7-5, 6-2 over Conway at No. 5, and freshman
Mary Meghrian (Peoria, Ill.) finished with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 against Clare Kelnhofer.Â
The Warriors continue their homestand on Saturday when they host Illinois Tech (2-6, 2-4 NACC) for a 1:30 p.m. NACC match at Hart Park.
