Wisconsin Lutheran Surges Past Centre, 68-45

Leisemann named to All-Tournament Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College out-scored Centre 42-13 between the second and third quarters en route to a 68-45 win on Friday in the second day of the Transylvania Holiday Classic at the Clive M. Beck Center.

The Warriors (6-5) fell behind 11-4 to the Colonels (7-5) at the 6:34 mark of the first quarter. An Ally Gough (Horicon, Wis.) three-pointer brought WLC within one point at 13-12 with 3:53 remaining, but CC scored the last three points of the opening period to carry a 16-12 advantage into the second quarter.

Wisconsin Lutheran scored the first six points of the second quarter behind layups from juniors Meggie Scott (Yorkville, Ill.), Sam Leisemann (Fall River, Wis.), and freshman Jayden Hill (Kenosha, Wis.) to force a Centre timeout. The Colonels tied the game twice, but a 9-1 Warriors scoring run over the final 2:48 of the second quarter sent them into the locker room at the half ahead 32-23.

WLC held CC scoreless for the first 4:30 of the third quarter and extended its lead to 25 points following five straight from sophomore Mack Hogenson (Neenah, Wis.) to cap a 17-0 scoring run. Wisconsin Lutheran maintained its 25-point advantage at 54-29 through the end of the third quarter after limiting Centre to just six points in the frame.

The Warriors built a game-high 29-point lead twice within the first four minutes of the fourth quarter on a jumper from sophomore Ella Ten Pas (Oostburg, Wis.) and a triple from Gough. A 12-3 scoring run from the Colonels chipped their deficit down to 20 points late in the game before the final score read 68-45.

Ten Pas tied for a game-high with 12 points, while Hogenson added 11 to account for WLC's double-figure scorers. Leisemann, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, tallied eight points, eight rebounds, four blocks, two assists, and two steals. Wisconsin Lutheran shot 41.7 percent (25-for-60) from the floor in the game.

Makya Grinter led three players in double figures with 12 points for CC, which shot 34.8 percent (16-for-46) from the floor.

The Warriors focus on conference play the rest of the season, beginning on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. NACC home game against MSOE (3-7, 2-2 NACC). Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
