MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College evened its NACC record after sweeping Alverno 9-0 on Sunday morning at McKinley Park Tennis Courts.
The Warriors (3-4, 2-2 NACC) secured their second sweep in conference play this season by shutting out the Inferno (0-7, 0-5 NACC).
WLC picked up three wins in doubles play to take a 3-0 lead. Sophomore
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) and junior
Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) swept Kalei Hanna and Elizabeth Wolf-Nowakowski 8-0 at No. 1. Junior
Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and freshman
Mary Meghrian (Peoria, Ill.) doubled up Merub Irfan and Alaina Kamalian 8-4 at No. 2. Juniors
Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.)Â and
Alex Sturm (Hartland, Wis.) defeated Ivonna Gentry and Michal Irfan 8-1 at No. 3.Â
Wisconsin Lutheran didn't allow more than two points in any singles match, rolling in straight sets. Junior
Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) won 6-1, 6-1 over Wolf-Nowakowski at No. 1, Smith secured a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 over Hanna, and Hawley defeated Merub Irfan at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0. Schmidt defeated Kamalian 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, Pope picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Michal Irfan at No. 5, and Meghrian blanked Gentry 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.Â
The Warriors will host Marian (4-4, 2-2 NACC) next Saturday, September 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Hart Park in Wauwatosa.
