Cano's Hat Trick Highlights Men's Soccer's Big Win Over Beavers

Senior collects fourth career hat trick

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Senior Jason Cano (Delavan, Wis.) recorded his fourth career hat trick to lead Wisconsin Lutheran College to a 5-1 non-conference win over Buena Vista in a neutral site game played at David Smith Stadium on Monday afternoon. Seniors KJ McNealey Jr. (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Josh Sepic (Mukwonago, Wis.) also scored goals for the Warriors.

WLC (2-0-0) struck first in the 13th minute when McNealey Jr. netted his third goal of the season off an assist from Cano to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Cano gave Wisconsin Lutheran a 2-0 cushion in the 24th minute when he scored off an assist from freshman Cameron Jochimsen (Freedom, Wis.).

The Beavers (0-2-1) netted their first and only goal of the match in the 33rd minute to cut the Warriors' lead to 2-1 at halftime. WLC's only two shots on frame in the first half found the back of the net.

Cano put Wisconsin Lutheran back in front by two in the 59th minute on an assist from junior Tony Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.). Cano (69') and Sepic (84') connected on penalty kicks as the lead stemmed to 5-1.

The Warriors out-shot BVU 14-4 and held a 5-1 margin in corner kicks. Cano tallied a game-high six shots while sophomore Bryce Beckley (Waterford, Wis.) picked up his second win of the season after making one save in 46 minutes.

WLC travels to Virginia next weekend for two non-conference games, starting Friday with a matchup against Randolph-Macon (1-0-1) at 3 p.m. CST. Live coverage links will be available for the contest at WLCSports.com.
