WLC Blankets Inferno For Fourth Straight NACC Win

Warriors allow season-low 33 points

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Junior Meggie Scott (Yorkville, Ill.) scored a career-high 17 points and Wisconsin Lutheran College allowed a season-low 33 points on its way to a 77-33 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win over Alverno on Wednesday at the Time of Grace Center.

The Warriors (12-6, 9-2 NACC) sprinted out to a 19-2 first-quarter lead over the Inferno (2-15, 0-11 NACC) following sophomore Ainsley Howard's (Jefferson, Wis.) second triple of the opening quarter at the 3:29 mark. WLC, which shot 71.4 percent and made four threes in the first period, carried a 28-8 lead into the second quarter.

Wisconsin Lutheran allowed just three second-quarter points to AC, while shooting an even 50 percent and receiving eight points each from Scott and sophomore Ella Ten Pas (Oostburg, Wis.). The Warriors finished the first half on a 9-0 scoring run to take a 50-11 halftime lead.

WLC used a 12-0 scoring run early in the third quarter to lead by 49 points at 62-13 after a layup by sophomore Madi Manson (Arvada, Colo.) with 4:04 remaining. Wisconsin Lutheran, which shot 50 percent for the second straight quarter, went into the final period with a 70-21 cushion as Howard sank her third three of the game in the closing seconds.

The Warriors cooled off in the fourth quarter, but not before extending their lead to a game-high 51 points in the opening minute following sophomore Janiyah Goner's (Milwaukee, Wis.) jumper. WLC pushed its winning streak to a season-long four games after winning by an average of 40.8 points during the stretch.

Scott led all scorers with a career-high 17 points on 6-for-7 shooting, including 5-for-5 from three-point range. Ten Pas added 14 points and tied for a team-high seven rebounds. Junior Sam Leisemann (Fall River, Wis.) finished with 10 points. Sophomore Lexy Smit (Brandon, Wis.) also pulled down seven boards.

Wisconsin Lutheran shot 48.3 percent (28-for-58) for the game, including 47.4 percent (9-for-19) from three-point range. The Warriors had a season-high 16 steals and out-scored Alverno 28-10 in points off turnovers.

Camiria Sardin tallied a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Inferno, which shot 28.9 percent (13-for-45) for the game.
