Wisconsin Lutheran Edged By MSOE In Season Finale

Warriors' seven wins most since 2018

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College battled Milwaukee School of Engineering to a scoreless game through 60 minutes, but the Raiders scored twice over the final 30 minutes to defeat the Warriors 2-0 on Wednesday in the 2023 season finale at Warriors Soccer Field.

WLC (7-9-1, 4-9-0 NACC), who tied for its most victories since 2018, kept MSOE (16-1-3, 12-1-0 NACC) off the first half scoreboard despite being pressured with 18 shots. Senior Christian Casimir (Kaukauna, Wis.) made four saves in the opening stanza as the score read 0-0 at halftime.

The Raiders broke through in the 61st minute of the second half when Maggie Thillman's shot from the top of the box found the bottom left corner, assisted by Olivia Carroll. Thillman netted her second goal of the game in the 78th minute off a Grace Quinn corner kick.

Junior Adlin Sanchez Cordero (Milwaukee, Wis.) and senior Katie Wasiak (Muskego, Wis.) each tallied a shot on goal for Wisconsin Lutheran. Casimir collected seven saves.

The game marked the final of the careers for Casimir, Desareih Juarez (Waukegan, Ill.), Peyton Killberg (Racine, Wis.), Signe Kind (Fort Atkinson, Wis.), Chloe Premo (Wrightwood, Calif.), Melanie Sanchez (Milwaukee, Wis.), Elena Velasquez (Milwaukee, Wis.), and Wasiak.
