ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered a 3-0 non-conference sweep to Augustana in its only match of the week on Saturday at the Roy J. Carver Center.
The Warriors (4-9) were swept in three sets by the Vikings (7-3) by scores of 25-14, 25-18, 25-15. Tied 4-4 in the first set, AC rattled off nine straight points to pull away. WLC found itself in an early nine-point hole in the second set, but battled back to close within five late. Set three featured six ties before a 7-1 run by Augustana put the hosts in control.
Wisconsin Lutheran was held to 11 kills and a -.092 hitting percentage with 17 errors and 65 attempts. Freshman
Drew Wempner (West Allis, Wis.) had five kills and two total blocks to lead the Warriors. Sophomore
James Biedenbender (La Crosse, Wis.) tallied eight assists and freshman
Trevor Salutric (Lockport, Ill.) recorded eight digs.
The Vikings hit .411 for the match with 41 kills, 11 errors, and 73 total attacks. Aiden Bolen led the team with 11 kills and Matthew Degnan had 33 assists.
