LOCKPORT, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College was topped by NAIA opponent St. Francis 4-3 on Sunday in a non-conference match at Challenge Fitness.
The Warriors (7-7) picked up a point over the Saints (1-2) in doubles play, as they won two of the three contests. Sophomore
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) and junior
Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) partnered for a 6-3 victory at No. 2, while junior
Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and freshman
Mary Meghrian (Peoria, Ill.) teamed for a 6-3 triumph at No. 3.
USF collected straight set wins at the first four singles positions, before junior
Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.) won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 and Meghrian earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6.Â
WLC plays its first home match of the spring season next Sunday against UW-Superior (1-5) at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club in Jackson. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
