Baseball Falls Twice At Benedictine

McFadden, Engelhardt homer for WLC on Saturday

LISLE, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped both games of a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader to Benedictine on Saturday at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex. The Eagles defeated the Warriors by scores of 17-3 and 12-2 in a pair of seven-inning contests.

BenU (17-7, 8-2 NACC) scored three first-inning runs behind two hits and added two more in the second for a 5-0 game one lead over WLC (3-20, 2-10 NACC). Benedictine broke the game open in the fourth with a seven-run frame on three hits.

Wisconsin Lutheran cracked the scoring column in the fifth inning when freshman Kason McFadden (Sachse, Texas) hit a three-run home run to right center, the first of his career.

The Eagles added their final five runs in the sixth inning on three hits.

McFadden finished 1-for-2 with three RBI and a run. Junior Henry Strupp (Watertown, Wis.) and senior Carter Raabe (Mukwonago, Wis.) also added a hit for the Warriors.

WLC had a pair of two-out singles in the first inning of game two, but couldn't plate any runs across. BenU jumped in front in the second inning with three runs on four hits.

Benedictine added two runs in both the third and fourth innings and a five-spot in the fifth for its 12 runs in the nightcap. Junior Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas) put Wisconsin Lutheran on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run blast to left field for his first homer of the year.

Engelhardt went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run. Senior Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.) added a 2-for-3 performance at the plate with a run scored.

The Warriors travel to Watertown on Monday for a 3 p.m. non-conference doubleheader against Maranatha Baptist (1-14). Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
