WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Fourth-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran College was edged 5-4 by fifth-seeded Concordia Wisconsin in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament First Round match on Monday at Hart Park.
The Warriors (9-13), who were making their third straight NACC Tournament appearance, fell behind 2-1 to the Falcons (7-13) after doubles play.
Sophomores
Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) and
Asa White (Farmington, N.M.) were defeated 8-2 at No. 1 by CUW's Landon Sather and Joshua Klement. Junior
Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) and freshman
Zadic Torline (Shawnee, Kan.) were edged 8-7 (7-3) at No. 2 by Dylan Nadolski and Isaac Bruins. Juniors
Matt Bass (Village of Lakewood, Ill.) and
Bryce Halvorsen (Kewaskum, Wis.) picked up WLC's first win at No. 3 with an 8-7 (7-4) triumph over Nathan Bilan and Jordan Wright.
Concordia Wisconsin collected wins at the first three singles positions, including the deciding match at No. 2.
Newberg fell to Sather 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1, White was upended in the only three-set match of the day against Klement 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2, and Kannenberg came up short 6-4, 6-0 to Nadolski at No. 3.
Torline topped Bruins 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4, Halvorsen handled Bilan 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5, and senior
Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) took care of Zachary Miller 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6.
Wisconsin Lutheran wraps up its 2022-2023 season 9-13 overall and 4-3 in the NACC for fourth place.
