Wisconsin Lutheran remained within striking distance after Dominican left seven runners stranded on base over the final three innings, but the Warriors left the tying run in scoring position in both the sixth and seventh.
Five players posted one hit each in the opener for WLC. Freshman
Emily Brands (Zeeland, Mich.) pitched 3.0 scoreless relief innings.
Wisconsin Lutheran pushed across two first-inning runs with two outs in game two when junior
Ashley Corley (Plainfield, Ill.) doubled home freshman
Emily Cardenas (Lake Stevens, Wash.), and sophomore
Makayla Huff (Galesburg, Ill.) followed with a single that scored Corley.
The Stars scored an unearned run in the second to cut their deficit in half, but the Warriors got that run back in the bottom of the inning when a double steal was executed and freshman

In the third inning, Dominican plated four runs on five hits while benefiting from two errors to jump in front 5-3. WLC, which left the bases loaded in both the third and fourth, knotted the score at 5-5 in the fourth when sophomore

The score remained deadlocked until the seventh when the Stars loaded the bases with one out and went ahead 6-5 on a RBI single. Wisconsin Lutheran escaped further damage but was retired in order in its last at-bat.
