FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College claimed a 9-0 shutout win over Marian on Tuesday in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual match at Fond du Lac High School.
The Warriors (3-3, 3-1 NACC), who secured their second straight conference sweep, won their fifth consecutive match over the Sabres (0-5, 0-4 NACC).
WLC seniors
Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) and
Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) doubled up MU's Aeryn Olson and Kendall Pliner 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. SeniorsÂ
Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and
Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.) defeated Abby Okon and Melana Brunton at No. 2 doubles, 8-5. The No. 3 doubles team of juniors
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) and
Haley Olson (Appleton, Wis.) blanked Josephine Bruch and Madeline Chimenti, 8-0.
Wisconsin Lutheran had little trouble with Marian in singles play. Haskell defeated Olson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, Smith won via retirement over Okon at No. 2, and Schmidt posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Pliner at No. 3. Hawley picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4 over Brunton, Pope registered a 7-5, 6-2 win over Bruch at No. 5, and Olson shutout Chimenti 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
The Warriors continue conference play Saturday on the road at Illinois Tech (2-4, 2-2 NACC). First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. at XS Tennis in Chicago.
