Goetz's Game-High Guides Warriors To NACC Road Win

WLC outscores DU 25-5 in points off turnovers

RIVER FOREST, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Senior Grayson Goetz (Aurora, Ill.) scored a game-high 22 points and Wisconsin Lutheran College took advantage of 23 turnovers to earn a 75-69 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win over Dominican on Wednesday at the Igini Sports Forum.

The Warriors (17-4, 12-2 NACC), who improved to 6-4 in true road games this season, won their eighth straight game over the Stars (8-12, 5-8 NACC) in the all-time series.

WLC erased a brief 2-0 deficit with a 9-0 run, its largest of the game, for a seven-point lead just shy of three minutes into the action. DU tied the contest at 13-13 and jumped in front 21-20 with under 10 minutes to play. After five back-and-forth lead changes, Wisconsin Lutheran took its largest lead of the first half at 35-26 following a three from Goetz with a minute-and-a-half left. The Warriors went into halftime ahead 35-29 with Goetz netting nearly half (17) of the team's first-half points.

WLC broke away from a four-point contest for its first double-digit lead of the game at 46-36 with five minutes gone by in the second half. Wisconsin Lutheran held a double-digit lead for six minutes, including a game-high 15-point advantage at 65-50 after a layup from senior Jacob Stoltz (Kewaskum, Wis.) with eight minutes remaining. A 13-2 run by Dominican trimmed its deficit to just four points with 2:54 left. However, the Stars were unable to get within one possession and sophomore Noah Howard (Waukesha, Wis.) netted five of the Warriors' final six points from the charity stripe over the last 39 seconds to seal the victory. Stoltz finished with 14 points in the second half to overcome DU's 61.5 percent shooting.

Goetz paced three players in double figures with a game-high 22 points. Stoltz finished with 19 points, five assists, and four steals. Senior AJ Vos (Lombard, Ill.) added 13 points and seven rebounds. Senior Ryan Broeckel (Chilton, Wis.) blocked four shots. WLC, which shot 43.1 percent (28-for-65) from the floor, scored 25 points off 23 Dominican turnovers.

Andre Bennett scored 17 points to lead two players in double figures for the Stars, who shot 47.2 percent (25-for-53) for the game.

Wisconsin Lutheran makes the short trek to Concordia Wisconsin (9-11, 8-5 NACC) on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip-off. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
