DE PERE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped its third straight 3-1 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match to St. Norbert on Tuesday at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Warriors (7-12, 2-5 NACC) fell in four sets to the Green Knights by scores of 25-17, 25-14, 18-25, 25-22.Â
WLC never recovered from a 6-0 first set deficit in dropping the opening set 25-17. Wisconsin Lutheran held an early 3-1 lead in the second set, before scoring runs of 6-0, 5-0, and 5-0 from SNC sent them to a 25-14 win. The Warriors overcame a 12-10 deficit in the third set with an 11-2 scoring run for a 25-18 victory. A 7-1 scoring run erased an early fourth set deficit and a pair of service aces from senior
Karah Valerio (Pewaukee, Wis.) gave WLC a 15-9 lead. St. Norbert responded shortly after with an 8-1 scoring run. After Wisconsin Lutheran came within 23-22, the Green Knights netted the final two points for the four-set win.
Junior
Lydia Biggin (Burlington, Wis.) tied a match high with 10 kills for the Warriors, who hit .069 for the match. Senior
Amahra Matthai (Plover, Wis.) added eight kills. Valerio tallied 18 assists and matched a career high with five service aces. Matthai recorded four block assists, while juniors
Lily Schuetz (Lake Mills, Wis.) and
Kayla Wigley (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished with 15 and 10 digs, respectively.
Alyssa Mills had 10 kills, Heidi Colburn had 36 assists, and Kara Sowinski had 15 digs for SNC (12-10, 6-1 NACC), which hit .162 for the match.
