WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a 3-1 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match to Marian on Thursday at Time of Grace Center.
The Warriors (7-14, 2-7 NACC) took the opening set from the Sabres, 25-19, but dropped three consecutive sets by scores of 25-20, 26-24, and 25-19.Â
WLC led wire-to-wire in the first set, building leads of as many as six points at 12-6 and 17-11. MU came within 19-17 before Wisconsin Lutheran closed out a 25-19 opening set win. The Warriors erased an 11-5 deficit to even the score at 11-11 in the second set. Trailing 18-15, WLC knotted the contest again at 20-20, only to have Marian finish the set with five straight points for a 25-20 victory. A tightly-contested third set featured 11 ties and three lead changes, as neither team held more than a three-point lead. Two straight points from Wisconsin Lutheran tied the set for the final time at 24-24, but the Sabres tallied the final two points for the 26-24 victory. The Warriors evened the score the only time in the fourth set at 12-12, before MU rattled off four straight points. WLC closed within 18-17 but MU scored seven of the last nine for the 25-19 win.

Lydia Biggin (Burlington, Wis.) led Wisconsin Lutheran with a match-high 15 kills while hitting .394. Senior
Karah Valerio (Pewaukee, Wis.) posted her third double-double of the season with 22 assists, 10 digs, and three service aces. Freshman
Elexa Varden (Dixon, Ill.) recorded a season-high six block assists, while senior
Kylee Gnabasik (Jefferson, Wis.) collected 10 digs. The Warriors hit .119 for the match.Â
Olivia Buol registered 13 kills for Marian (9-15, 3-6 NACC), with Kaylie Engebose tallying a double-double of 25 assists and 10 digs. The Sabres hit .142 for the match.
