Warriors Clinch NACC Tournament Berth Following Senior Night Stalemate With MSOE

Galvan records season-high 10 saves in shutout

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College snapped a four-match losing streak following a 0-0 Senior Night tie with Milwaukee School of Engineering in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season finale on Wednesday at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (8-7-3, 4-5-3 NACC), who secured their eighth shutout of the season, clinched their second straight NACC Tournament appearance and ninth overall by virtue of tonight's result and Aurora's win over Benedictine.

WLC played through a scoreless opening half with the Raiders, who recorded five of their seven first-half shots within the first 19 minutes. All three of Wisconsin Lutheran's shot attempts in the first half landed on frame, including two from sophomore Francisco Espinoza Jr. (Sheboygan, Wis.).

Despite being outshot 18-3 in the second half, senior Puma Galvan (Racine, Wis.) made eight saves to keep MSOE off the scoreboard. Senior Titus Kostrzewa (Wauwatosa, Wis.) had his shot punched over the top of the frame in the 58th minute by opposing goalkeeper Asher Harris, and the contest remained scoreless the rest of the way.

Espinoza Jr. led the Warriors with three shots, all of frame. Galvan posted a season-high 10 saves en route to his fourth clean sheet of the season.

Nico Picha and Ditar Useni tallied five shots apiece for Milwaukee School of Engineering (9-3-6, 8-2-2 NACC). Harris collected five saves.

Eighth-seeded WLC travels to Verona on Sunday for a NACC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded and 23rd-ranked Edgewood (16-1-2, 10-0-1 NACC). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Reddan Soccer Park. Wisconsin Lutheran was the lone NACC squad to hold the Eagles scoreless in their 0-0 draw back on October 5.
