Warriors' Season Comes To A Close At IWU Invitational

WLC falls to pair of nationally-recognized teams

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College concluded its 2024 season on Saturday at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational, falling to Centre and Illinois Wesleyan by identical 3-0 scores at Shirk Center.

The Warriors dropped their opening match to the Colonels, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 Poll, by scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-19. Junior Lydia Biggin (Burlington, Wis.) recorded a match-high 11 kills for WLC, which hit .063 with 27 kills. Senior Karah Valerio (Pewaukee, Wis.) distributed a team-high 16 assists. Senior Kylee Gnabasik (Jefferson, Wis.) finished with eight digs, while senior Amahra Matthai (Plover, Wis.) tallied four block assists.

Emily Gardner tallied 24 assists and June Padilla posted 15 digs and four service aces for CC (21-5), which hit .239 with 33 kills.

Wisconsin Lutheran fell to the host Titans, who are also receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 Poll, by scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-23. Junior Lily Schuetz (Lake Mills, Wis.) had a team-high eight kills and 11 digs for the Warriors, who hit .093 with 28 kills. Biggin added to her team lead in service aces with three. Valerio led the team with 13 assists, while senior Emma Incaprero (Mauston, Wis.) surpassed 1,000 assists for her career with 10. Junior Kayla Wigley (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished with 10 digs. Matthai totaled three block assists.

Taylor French and Jordan Pierce posted 10 kills each for IWU (20-9), which hit ..320 with 42 kills. Abby Erdman had 23 assists and Kannyn Boyd had 23 digs.

The Warriors wrap up their 2024 season 10-17 overall and 5-8 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
