STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered a three-set non-conference loss to UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday at Shirley Egner Court at Berg Gym.
The Warriors (0-3), who returned to action for the first time in 17 days, were defeated by the Pointers (4-4) by scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-10. WLC held an 8-7 lead in an opening set that featured eight ties and four lead changes, but unfortunately never gained an advantage the rest of the way.
Sophomore
Drew Wempner (West Allis, Wis.) tallied a team-high eight kills for Wisconsin Lutheran, which hit .052 on 25 kills, 20 errors, and 96 attempts. Junior
Jay Thammavongsa (Franklin, Wis.) tied a match high with 22 assists. Sophomore
Samuel Dudor (Franklin, Wis.) recorded a career-high 10 digs and senior
Grant Wempner (Garden Grove, Calif.) posted a pair of block assists.
Zach Meyers collected 10 kills and Josh Brogren distributed 22 assists for UWSP, which hit .181 on 29 kills, 12 errors, and 94 attempts.
The Warriors travel to Bloomington, Illinois this weekend for the IWU Invitational. WLC will take on the host Titans (5-2) on Friday at 4 p.m. followed by a matchup with Wabash (4-1) at 6 p.m. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
