Wisconsin Lutheran Holds Off Pitt.-Bradford For Second Straight Win

Strupp drives in three runs to lead Warriors

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College broke a scoreless game with three runs midway through and held on for a 6-3 win over Pitt.-Bradford on Wednesday at Terry Park.

The Warriors (4-6), who left eight runners on base through the first four innings, finally broke through for three runs on two hits in the fifth inning. Sophomore Eli Michaelis (Wauwatosa, Wis.) singled home senior Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas). Freshman Colt Ratliff (Oxford, Ga.) scored on a fielding error by the right fielder, and Michaelis scored on a RBI groundout from senior Henry Strupp (Watertown, Wis.).

The Panthers (5-5) plated their first run in the bottom of the fifth on a sac fly to right. WLC got the run back three innings later in the eighth when freshman Aiden Montgomery (St. Louis, Mo.) singled home junior Elijah Shevey (Muskego, Wis.) for a three-run lead. Strupp added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth with a two-out, two-run home run to left field for a 6-1 advantage.

UPB started the last of the ninth inning with three straight hits, including a two-run home run. Junior Austin Preiss (South Milwaukee, Wis.) came on in relief and retired two straight batters to shut the door on Pitt.-Bradford.

Shevey, Strupp, and Ratliff posted two hits apiece for Wisconsin Lutheran, while Strupp drove in three runs. Junior Matt Brissette (Mukwonago, Wis.) picked up his first win of the season after tossing 6.0 innings without allowing an earned run. Preiss notched his first save by retiring the only two batters he faced.

The Warriors play a split doubleheader tomorrow against Haverford (5-3) and Ohio Wesleyan (5-3) at 9 a.m. ET and 12 p.m. ET at Terry Park. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
