PLYMOUTH, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference games to Lakeland on Friday by scores of 9-1 and 14-6 at Muskie Softball Field.
The Warriors (5-11, 2-2 NACC) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game one when senior
Ashley Corley's (Plainfield, Ill.) two-out single to center brought home freshman
Madison Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis.). The Muskies (12-4, 3-1 NACC) capitalized on two errors to plate six runs, five unearned, on three hits in the bottom of the second for a five-run advantage.
Back-to-back two-out RBI hits in the fourth inning added two runs to LU's total, and the hosts ended the game in the bottom of the sixth with a bases-loaded fielder's choice.Â
Heller and Corley recorded two hits apiece in the opener for WLC, which had a runner in scoring position in each of the first three innings.
Wisconsin Lutheran tallied three straight two-out singles in the top of the first inning of game two, but had a runner thrown out at the plate to end the opening frame. Lakeland plated four runs, two unearned, on four hits in the second inning to take the lead. A two-run single from Corley in the third that drove home junior

Emily Cardenas (Lake Stevens, Wash.) put the Warriors on the scoreboard. WLC came within a run at 4-3 in the fifth after Corley's RBI single up the middle scored Heller.Â
The Muskies' offense went off for six runs on seven hits in the fifth inning to open a seven-run lead. Wisconsin Lutheran loaded the bases with nobody out in the sixth, and junior
Gwen Malecke (Gilberts, Ill.) drove in junior
Allison Powers (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and sophomore
Juliana Sieber (Oconto, Wis.) with a two-run single. Freshman
Alea Anhalt (Fond du Lac, Wis.) followed three batters later with a RBI single to center that plated Heller. LU, which escaped further damage by stranding the bases loaded with an inning-ending strikeout, ended the game in the bottom of the frame with four runs on six hits.
Corley finished 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Warriors at the plate. Malecke, Anhalt, and senior
Lexi Martin (Westfield, Ind.) added two hits each. Malecke drove in two runs while Martin drew a pair of walks.
