DE PERE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Fifth-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran College was nipped by fourth-seeded St. Norbert 5-3 on Tuesday in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament First Round matchup at Green Bay Tennis Center.
The Warriors (5-12), who were making their fourth straight NACC Tournament appearance, fell short in two of the three doubles matches to the Green Knights (10-11). Senior
Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) and sophomore
Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) edged Joe Pellechia and Brian Coulter at No. 3, 8-7 (7-2). Senior
Asa White (Farmington, N.M.) and junior
Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) dropped a close contest at No. 1 to Brett Daniels and Jackson Harpt, 8-5.
Kannenberg collected WLC's first singles win at No. 4 over Pellechia 6-1, 6-1, while Heezen knocked off Coulter 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6. White and Newberg came up short in a pair of matches at No. 1 and No. 2, falling 6-4, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-4, respectively. The matchup at No. 5 singles went unfinished.
Wisconsin Lutheran rounds out its 2023-2024 season 5-12 overall and 3-4 in the NACC.
