FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College was held to eight hits over two games of a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader sweep to Marian on Friday by scores of 9-0 and 8-3 at Smith Field.
The Sabres (18-18, 10-12 NACC) struck for five two-out runs in the bottom of the first inning of game one to take control early. They added a single tally in the second and three more in the third to account for their nine runs over the run-rule shortened five-inning contest. Madison Heller's (South Milwaukee, Wis.) sac bunt the next at-bat and the Warriors led 3-2. Marian knotted the score at 3-3 in the third with a solo homerun. Following two-and-a-half scoreless innings, the Sabres scored five runs, four unearned, on four hits in the bottom of the sixth to pull away for the win.
Corley went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI for the Warriors. Five other players posted one hit apiece.Â
