WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered a 7-0 setback to unbeaten Edgewood on Friday in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual match at Hart Park.
The Warriors (1-3, 0-3 NACC) dropped a pair of doubles contests to the Eagles (5-0, 2-0 NACC), falling 6-4 at No. 1 and 6-3 at No. 3. WLC's No. 2 doubles duo of freshmen
Joelle Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) and
Amelia Kelley (Appleton, Wis.) improved their mark to 4-0 on the season with a 6-3 victory over EC's Christina Ekkela and Hattie Plenty.
Wisconsin Lutheran came up short in a trio of three-set singles competitions. Senior
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) fell 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, sophomore
Maddy Olson (Onalaska, Wis.) was upended 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, and Smith suffered a 5-7, 6-4, 10-7 defeat at No. 4.Â
The Warriors are back on the courts tomorrow for another NACC dual match against Alverno (0-1, 0-1 NACC). First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. at McKinley Park Tennis Courts in Milwaukee.
