WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) -Â Wisconsin Lutheran College split a pair a non-conference matches at the WLC Triangular at Time of Grace Center on Friday. The Warriors were swept by Carroll 3-0 before bouncing back for a 3-0 sweep over Lake Forest.
WLC (5-7) fell to the Pioneers in its first match of the day by scores 25-18, 25-22, 25-20. Wisconsin Lutheran was held to .059 hitting with 33 kills, 27 errors, and 102 attempts.Â
Offensively for the Warriors, junior
Kayla Wigley (Milwaukee, Wis.) led the team with eight kills, and senior
Emma Incaprero (Mauston, Wis.) distributed 16 assists. Junior
Lydia Biggin (Burlington, Wis.) had a trio of service aces. Senior
Amahra Matthai (Plover, Wis.) posted four block assists, and senior
Kylee Gnabasik (Jefferson, Wis.) tallied nine digs defensively.
Payton Depies recorded a team-high 19 assists and nine digs for CU (15-3), which hit .196 with 34 kills, 16 errors, and 92 attempts. Â
WLC bounced back with a 3-0 sweep over the Foresters in its final match of the day, winning by scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-15. Wisconsin Lutheran hit .157 behind 33 kills, 16 errors, and 108 attempts.Â
Matthai led the Warriors with career-high 11 kills for a .471 hitting percentage. Senior
Karah Valerio (Pewaukee, Wis.) posted a team-high 12 assists. Wigley recorded a season-high five of WLC's 17 service aces, while collecting a match-high 17 digs. Gnabasik, who surpassed 1,000 career digs in the contest, was right behind with 16.
Lily Robinson had 13 assists and Juli Barrientos added 17 digs for LFC (1-9), which hit .071 with 23 kills, 16 errors, and 98 attempts.
