Warriors Exact Revenge By Dismantling Illinois Tech, 96-48

Largest margin of victory in conference play since January 2007

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Graduate Jacob Stoltz (Kewaskum, Wis.) scored a season-high 26 points to lead four players in double figures and No. 11 Wisconsin Lutheran College avenged its lone loss of the season with an impressive 96-48 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference thumping of Illinois Tech on Saturday at Time of Grace Center.

The Warriors (13-1, 6-1 NACC), who forced a season-high 26 turnovers and converted them into a 31-2 advantage in points off turnovers, tied for their fewest points allowed this season.

WLC trailed 13-11 with 14:43 left in the first half before exploding on a 16-0 run for a 14-point lead with 9:31 remaining. Leading 24-22 at the 7:01 mark, Wisconsin Lutheran erupted for 20 consecutive points to take a 32-point lead with just 0:30 seconds left. Graduate Grayson Goetz (Aurora, Ill.) beat the first-half horn with a deep three-pointer for a 57-23 halftime advantage. Stoltz scored 16 first-half points for the Warriors, who shot 50 percent (22-for-44) and outscored the Scarlet Hawks 19-1 in points off turnovers.

WLC rattled off a 10-0 scoring run within the first five minutes of the second half to build a 67-26 lead. Shortly after, two threes from Stoltz and another from junior Ja'Quell Chisom (Milwaukee, Wis.) vaulted Wisconsin Lutheran's lead to a game-high 48-points at 78-30 with 13:07 remaining. The Warriors maintained their-40-plus point advantage for the remainder of the game, matching their largest lead three times within the final three minutes.

Stoltz led all scorers with 26 points on 9-for-10 shooting in just 24 minutes of action. He also tied for a game-high seven rebounds. Goetz stuffed the box score with 16 points, a game-high seven assists, and a game-high tying seven rebounds. Chisom came off the bench to contribute 15 points. Graduate Ryan Broeckel (Chilton, Wis.) added 10 points. In addition to dominating points off turnovers, WLC outscored IIT 52-24 on points in the paint, 14-3 in second chance points, and 32-5 in bench scoring. Wisconsin Lutheran shot 48.7 percent (38-for-78) from the floor, 39.3 percent (11-for-28) from three-point range, and 81.8 percent (9-for-11) from the free throw line.

Joshua Iguade scored 17 points to lead Illinois Tech (3-11, 2-5 NACC), which shot 36.5 percent (19-for-52) from the floor.
