MONTGOMERY, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered a 5-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference setback to second-place Aurora on Wednesday at Spartan Athletic Park.
The Spartans (8-3-3, 7-1-1 NACC) opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Branden Dolezal found the back of the net off a Nick Fiet assist. Dolezal extended AU's lead early in the second half with goals in the 55th and 58th minutes to complete a hat trick. Josue Roman added a pair of goals in the 66th and 75th minutes, with an assist credited to Omar Saldana on the first tally.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Owen Gault (Moline, Ill.) made a season-high 10 saves for the Warriors (2-10-3, 1-5-2 NACC) to keep WLC within reach in the opening half, when he stopped seven Aurora shots. The Spartans held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Dolezal led all players with three goals on five shots, while Roman added two goals and an assist on eight shots for the hosts.
