CHICAGO, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College was unable to solve Illinois Tech in a 7-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference setback on Saturday at XS Tennis Center.
The Scarlet Hawks (6-1, 6-0 NACC) swept all three doubles matches to take the opening point, with 6-1 victories at No. 2 and No. 1 doubles clinching the advantage before a 6-2 decision at No. 3 finished the sweep.
In singles play, Illinois Tech carried its momentum with straight-set wins across the lineup. Junior
Maddy Olson (Onalaska, Wis.) fell 6-1, 6-1 at the top spot, while sophomore
Joelle Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 2. Sophomore
Amelia Kelley (Appleton, Wis.) battled but came up short 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3. Freshman
Addie Prochazka (Sussex, Wis.) extended her match at No. 4 but ultimately fell 6-0, 6-4. Freshman
Sophia Schroeder (Tampa, Fla.) was edged in a close first set at No. 5 before falling 6-4, 6-0, and senior
Lucia Gallardo Martos (Torrejon De Ardoz, Spain) was topped 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6.
WLC (1-5, 1-5 NACC) will look to bounce back quickly when it travels to face Lakeland (0-3, 0-3 NACC) on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Howards Grove High School.
