Warriors Come Up Short In 93-84 Loss To MSOE

Chisom leads five players in double figures

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College mounted a late second-half push but could not overcome Milwaukee School of Engineering's hot shooting in a 93-84 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference loss on Wednesday at Time of Grace Center.

The Raiders (5-4, 3-1 NACC) broke away from a 10-10 deadlock with a 9-2 scoring spurt and later built their first double-digit lead of the game at 29-19 with 6:54 left in the first half. The Warriors trailed 32-28 following a three-pointer from freshman Isaiah Mellock (Greendale, Wis.) at the 4:30 mark, but MSOE countered with its largest lead of the opening half of 12 points shortly before halftime. Milwaukee School of Engineering shot 63.3 percent (19-for-30) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes to carry an 11-point lead of 46-35 into halftime.

The Raiders held a game-high 13-point advantage at 61-48 with 15 minutes left in the contest. WLC cut into its deficit with a 6-0 spurt midway through the half to spark a comeback, and briefly took an 81-80 lead with 3:30 remaining after senior Ja'Quell Chisom's (Milwaukee, Wis.) three-pointer. MSOE answered quickly, however, using an 11-0 run over the next three minutes to seal the win.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-7, 1-3 NACC) shot 47.8 percent (33-for-69) from the field. Chisom led five players in double figures for the Warriors with 20 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Mellock and sophomore Dom Hill (Waukesha, Wis.) added 12 points apiece. Junior Trey Luehring (Cedarburg, Wis.) tallied 11 points and five assists, while senior Austin Wagner (Jackson, Wis.) chipped in 10 points. Senior Ben Lubbers (Delafield, Wis.) contributed nine points and six rebounds. WLC tied a season-high with 10 three-point makes and had just eight turnovers.

Milwaukee School of Engineering finished the game shooting 62.1 percent (36-for-58) overall. Mason Dopirak scored a game-high 21 points, and Ethan Johnson pulled down 10 rebounds.

Wisconsin Lutheran returns to action on Wednesday, December 31, hosting Wheaton (6-4) at 1 p.m. at Time of Grace Center. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
