Defending NACC Champions Prove Too Much For Wisconsin Lutheran

Newberg and Heezen win second straight match at No. 1 doubles

JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College fell to defending Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season and tournament champion Illinois Institute of Technology 7-0 on Sunday at Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club.

The Warriors' No. 1 doubles team of senior Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) and junior Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) won for the second time in as many days, topping the Scarlet Hawks' Avneet Singh and Alexander Feher 7-6 (7-5). IIT came out on top in the remaining two doubles contests, 6-3 and 6-0, to collect the opening point.

Illinois Tech (5-8, 1-1 NACC) took all six singles flights from WLC in straight sets. However, Heezen batted at No. 2 before falling to Feher 6-3, 6-4.

Wisconsin Lutheran (0-9, 0-3 NACC) kicks off three straight days of competition next Friday when it travels to Dubuque (7-6) for a 1 p.m. non-conference match.
