MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College was held to a season-low -.013 hitting percentage as it dropped a 3-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match to Milwaukee School of Engineering on Wednesday at Time of Grace Center.
The Warriors (6-10, 3-2 NACC) suffered their first home conference loss by scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-14.
The Raiders never trailed in the opening set, but WLC was able to hang around early as freshman
Brady Pichler (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) tallied a pair of kills. MSOE used a 5-0 run to gain separation at 19-11. Wisconsin Lutheran broke four set points before Milwaukee School of Engineering finished off the first set, 25-20.
The Raiders once again jumped out to an early five-point advantage in the second set before the Warriors capitalized on a pair of MSOE errors to close their deficit to 13-10. Milwaukee School of Engineering responded by scoring eight of the next 10 points, extending its lead to 21-12. The Raiders scored the final four points of the set for a 25-14 victory.
MSOE started the third set scoring the first six points, forcing an early WLC timeout, before Wisconsin Lutheran got on the scoreboard with a pair of kills from Pichler. Milwaukee School of Engineering's defensive effort held the Warriors to a match-low -.071 hitting percentage in the final set.
Pichler was the lone player from WLC with double-digit kills, totaling 10 in the match. Senior
James Biedenbender (La Crosse, Wis.) dished out 17 assists and added a block assist.
The Raiders (5-8, 4-0 NACC) totaled 21 block assists with two solo blocks. Callan Harris led the offensive attack with 17 kills on a .727 hitting percentage, while Matthew Schultz added 10 kills.
