FRANKLIN, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a non-conference game to Wheaton (IL) on Tuesday at The Rock Sports Complex by a final score of 10-2 in five innings. Game two of the doubleheader was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning following two lengthy game one weather delays that led to field unavailability.
The Thunder wasted no time jumping ahead, scoring three runs on three hits in the opening frame, while tacking on two more unearned runs in the second. The Warriors plated their only two runs in the third inning. After sophomores
Ally Stancel (Yorkville, Ill.) and
Madison Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis.) singled, freshman
Kylie Gaston (Albertville, Minn.) drove in Stancel with a fielder's choice. Sophomore
Sommer Krull (New London, Wis.) followed two batters later with a two-out base hit to score freshman
Amara Martinez (Freeport, Texas), trimming the deficit to 5–2.
The big blow came in the fourth when WC hit a three-run homer, extending the lead to 8–2. A two-run single in the fifth inning accounted for Wheaton's 10 runs in the game.

Gwen Malecke (Gilberts, Ill.), Krull, and Stancel each recorded a hit for WLC. Sophomore
Kaitlynn Severson (Mindoro, Wis.) pitched an inning of scoreless relief.
Abby Whitehead went 2-for-3 with six RBI and a run scored for the Thunder (15-18). Shylah Dozeman earned the win, going the distance with 5.0 innings pitched, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out three.
