WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College wrapped up its 2025 season on Saturday, falling to Edgewood 2-1 and 4-2 on Senior Day at Neumann Family Softball Field.
GAME 1
The Eagles broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third with a two-run single down the right-field line. The Warriors responded in the fourth, trimming the deficit to 2-1. Senior
Olivia Krieser (Stoughton, Wis.) doubled to right center and came around to score on a two-out RBI single by freshman
Mia Alejo (Sacramento, Calif.).
WLC continued to pressure EC, putting runners in scoring position in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, but was unable to plate the game-tying run.
Offensively, Krieser led Wisconsin Lutheran with a 2-for-3 effort including a double and a run scored. Six other players posted one hit each. Freshman
Teagan Piven (Plainfield, Ill.) pitched the final 3.2 scoreless innings in relief, striking out four.
For Edgewood, Olivia Hebert had a standout day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double. Lauren Prigge held firm, tossing a complete game with nine strikeouts and no walks, while stranding eight runners.
GAME 2
The Eagles struck first in the opening frame with a RBI single, and added another run in the second with a RBI double giving the visitors an early 2–0 lead.
The Warriors answered right back in the bottom half of the second. Krieser and senior
Gwen Malecke (Gilberts, Ill,) reached via walk, and sophomore
Amara Martinez (Freeport, Texas) delivered a clutch two-out single up the middle to score both runners and tie the game 2–2.
EC regained the lead in the sixth when a throwing error allowed two runs to cross the plate. A leadoff walk and RBI double set up the scoring sequence.
Offensively,
Amara Martinez went 2-for-3 with two RBI and freshman
Kylie Gaston (Albertville, Minn.) led WLC with a double, a single, and a walk. Sophomore
Madison Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis.) also added a hit. Freshman
Brianna Wascher (South Elgin, Ill.) made her first collegiate start in the circle for Wisconsin Lutheran, going 5.0 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with three strikeouts. Piven pitched 2.0 clean innings in relief, keeping the Warriors within striking distance.
Herbert went 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored for Edgewood (14-25, 9-14 NACC). Kaitlin Pratt shut the door with 5.0 shutout innings in relief, allowing just two hits while retiring 15 of the 19 batters she faced to earn the win.
WLC, which honored seniors Krieser, Malecke,
Lydia Lindemann (Watertown, Wis.),
Allison Powers (Sun Prairie, Wis.), and
Melissa Tonn (West Allis, Wis.) between games, wraps up its 2025 season 9-29 overall and 4-20 in the NACC.
