Collyard leads WLC with three shots

MEQUON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener 2-0 to Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday at Fitting Field.

The Warriors (3-2-0, 0-1-0 NACC) held the Falcons (3-1-3, 2-0-0 NACC) scoreless through the opening 70 minutes before CUW broke through with a pair of second-half goals.

Brei Rozmiarek tallied the eventual game-winner in the 73rd minute off an assist from Jacey Read. Less than four minutes later, substitute Koffy'e Chappel doubled the Falcons' advantage with an unassisted goal in the 77th minute.

WLC generated seven shots in the match, three of which were on target. Sophomore Ava Collyard (Richfield, Wis.) paced the Warriors with three attempts, while sophomores Emma Adema (Sheboygan, Wis.) and Payton Schiebel (St. Charles, Minn.) each recorded one shot on goal.

Concordia Wisconsin finished with a 17-7 advantage in shots, including 9-3 in shots on frame. WLC goalkeepers junior Kallista Street (Kenosha, Wis.) and sophomore Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis) combined for seven saves, with Schroeder stopping a second-half penalty kick in the 80th minute to keep the margin at two.
