MEQUON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener 2-0 to Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday at Fitting Field.
The Warriors (3-2-0, 0-1-0 NACC) held the Falcons (3-1-3, 2-0-0 NACC) scoreless through the opening 70 minutes before CUW broke through with a pair of second-half goals.
Brei Rozmiarek tallied the eventual game-winner in the 73rd minute off an assist from Jacey Read. Less than four minutes later, substitute Koffy'e Chappel doubled the Falcons' advantage with an unassisted goal in the 77th minute.
WLC generated seven shots in the match, three of which were on target. Sophomore
Ava Collyard (Richfield, Wis.) paced the Warriors with three attempts, while sophomores
Emma Adema (Sheboygan, Wis.) and
Payton Schiebel (St. Charles, Minn.) each recorded one shot on goal.
Concordia Wisconsin finished with a 17-7 advantage in shots, including 9-3 in shots on frame. WLC goalkeepers junior
Kallista Street (Kenosha, Wis.) and sophomore
Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis) combined for seven saves, with Schroeder stopping a second-half penalty kick in the 80th minute to keep the margin at two. CUW's Kara Claussner made three saves in the shutout win.
