Men’s Basketball Drops NACC Matchup To Concordia Wisconsin

Chisom leads Warriors with career-high 28 points

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College ran into a red-hot Concordia Wisconsin offense on Saturday, as the Falcons pulled away for a 100–74 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory at Time of Grace Center in the Warriors' first home game of 2026.

WLC (3-10, 1-5 NACC) was limited to 37.7 percent (26-of-69) shooting for the game and 21.4 percent from three-point range, while CUW (7-8, 5-3 NACC) connected at a 50.7 percent (35-for-69) clip overall and shot 34.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Wisconsin Lutheran grabbed a 3–0 lead just 0:34 seconds into the game on freshman Isaiah Mellock's (Greendale, Wis.) three-pointer. A 12-0 scoring run from Concordia Wisconsin turned a 10-9 advantage into a 13-point lead with 12:20 left in the first half. The Warriors were within seven points, 32-25, with four minutes left after a layup from senior Ben Lubbers (Delafield, Wis.), but the Falcons answered with an 11-2 run right before halftime to take a 43-30 lead at the break. WLC shot 31.4 percent in the opening 20 minutes, compared to 48.5 percent for CUW.

Wisconsin Lutheran opened the second half with consecutive baskets to cut the deficit to eight, and a three-pointer from Mellock trimmed the margin to seven at 51-44 with 16:14 remaining. Concordia Wisconsin doubled its lead to 14 with 12:36 left, before the Warriors again came within seven at 68-61 after a pair of Mellock free throws at the 8:23 mark. The Falcons used an 8-0 run, their biggest of the second half, to extend the lead to 15 points, and later reached 20 with over five minutes to play.

Senior Ja'Quell Chisom (Milwaukee, Wis.) delivered a career and team season-high 28 points to lead WLC, while adding a team-high six rebounds. Mellock finished with 12 points, and sophomore Sam Hans (Hartland, Wis.) distributed a career-high six assists.

CUW placed three players in double figures, led by Logan Landers with a game-high 32 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Casey Verhagen added 26 points, and Luke Eggemeyer chipped in 11.

Wisconsin Lutheran will look to bounce back when it returns to Time of Grace Center on Wednesday, January 14, hosting St. Norbert (10-4, 7-0 NACC) at 7 p.m. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
