JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College opened its spring season with a 7-0 non-conference loss to Wheaton on Saturday at Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club.
The Thunder (1-0) jumped out to an early advantage by sweeping all three doubles flights. At No. 1 doubles, Andrew Jang and Andrew Winters earned a 6-1 win over senior
Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) and junior
Cameron Borchert (Loveland, Colo.). Wheaton followed with another 6-1 decision at No. 2, as David Hill and Corin Tang defeated senior
TaDarion Perkins (Milwaukee, Wis.) and sophomore
Myles Harris (Milwaukee, Wis.), before Ryder Ward and Joshua Hartman completed the sweep with a 6-0 victory against junior
Aidan Mattek (Appleton, Wis.) and freshman
Zach Nelson (Watertown, Wis.) at No. 3.
The Thunder claimed straight-set wins across all six singles flights. Tang earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Heezen at No. 1 singles, while Jang followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Borchert at No. 2. Wheaton added wins at No. 3 through No. 6 singles against Perkins, Harris, Mattek, and Nelson to secure the team victory.
The Warriors (0-3) return to action on Sunday, February 8, in Ripon, facing the host Red Hawks (1-3) at 9 a.m. before taking on Saint Mary's (1-4) at 12 p.m. at Willmore Center.
