MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College delivered one of the most efficient offensive performances in program history on Saturday, sweeping Rockford 25-7, 25-11, 25-11 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Time of Grace Center.
The Warriors (10-6, 4-2 NACC) hit a program-record .492 for the match while holding the Regents (2-17, 0-7 NACC) to a -.135 hitting percentage. WLC also matched a season high with 16 service aces.
Junior
Josh Ward (Mukwonago, Wis.) recorded a career-high 10 kills to lead Wisconsin Lutheran, while sophomore
Brady Pichler (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) added nine kills to surpass 500 for his career and a career-high six service aces. Freshman setter
David Warren (Brookfield, Wis.) paced the offense with 22 assists.
The Warriors set the tone early in the opening set. After taking a 2-0 lead, WLC used a 12-3 run to stretch the advantage to 14-3. Later in the frame, another extended run pushed the lead to 24-6 before Ward recorded the set-clinching kill in a dominant 25-7 win. Wisconsin Lutheran hit .571 in the opening set.
The second set followed a similar script. The Warriors raced out to a 9-1 lead behind aggressive serving and strong net play. RU briefly slowed the momentum, but WLC maintained control and closed the set with steady offense, capped by a Pichler ace to secure the 25-11 victory.
Rockford kept the third set close early, as it trailed 9-6. Wisconsin Lutheran gradually built separation and later used a key serving run from sophomore
Carson Rau (Jackson, Wis.), who delivered three consecutive aces, to extend the margin to 16-9. The Warriors finished the match on another strong stretch to seal the 25-11 final set and complete the sweep.
Ward's 10 kills led WLC while Pichler finished with nine and six service aces. Warren's 22 assists guided Wisconsin Lutheran's .492 hitting effort. Junior

Drew Wempner (West Allis, Wis.) finished with three blocks.
The Regents had three players post two kills apiece. PJ Peden had four assists, Ethan Pedroza had five digs, and Josh Bowling added three blocks.
